They say Bananas are Ganeshji’s favorite, apart from modaks of course.
And Banana sheera is imperative to Ganesh Chaturti as an offering to Lord Ganesh… So I am taking these 10 days as a way to showcase some drool-worthy Ganesh Chaturthi specific recipes starting off with this extremely easy banana sheera recipe.
A mix of roasted semolina, sugar, mashed bananas is all that you need to create this delicious halwa or sheera ( in Marathi) as you may call it. Add to it your choice of flavorings of course. For me, a little cardamom powder does wonder to elevate this prasad.
Also bananas and cardamom are a match made in heaven, never fails & keeping it diabetic-friendly, I have used Diabliss Sugar
Bananas – 2
Semolina -1/2 cup
Sugar Diabliss Sugar – 1/4 cup if you wish ( If the bananas are overripe, then you can avoid)
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
Milk/water – 1.25cup( refer milk)
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Nuts few (cashews, raisins, walnuts)
In a deep pan, add 1 tbsp ghee and lightly roast the nuts (cashews, raisins, walnuts)
In the same pan add 2 tbsp ghee and roast the semolina for 4 to 5 minutes under low flame it slightly changes color.
In another bowl, let the milk/water come to a boil or microwave the milk until its hot.
Add in the hot milk/water and stir quickly before the semolina absorbs the milk.
Add in the mashed bananas and sugar, Mix well and add the cardamom powder, roasted nuts & Switch off the flame.
